About the Art:

I draw the subjects of water to represent meditation. I draw from snapshots from above of swimming pools, fountains, mineral and hot springs. The process of making and building the chalk pastel drawing on paper, slowing down, observing visual texture, focusing on emptiness, breathing and awareness of sensory experience around me while I create is part of my meditation on water. My inspiration to draw and paint water is directly connected to my practice of mindfulness and my swimming practice. In my “New Work” (2016-2017) I plan to use oil pastels on stretched canvases during my professional development leave from Foothill College.
